KIDS CLASSES

Thank you so much for your interest in our kids programs! We can't wait to train with your family.

If you are reading this, I'm sure you are aware that open enrollment at our academy only happens a couple times a year, at this time enrollment is currently open.

We hope this page will be a good guide to help you with navigating and understanding our enrollment process.

When will enrollment be open?

Spaces

When spaces in class become available. We try to cap our class sizes at a certain number of students.

Age

When spaces become available we will fill in based off of age group/experience. Age requirements for classes must be met.

Waitlist

Waitlist can be difficult to accomodate. When enrollment is live you will find it right here at the bottom of this page.

Why?

The most common question we get asked is why - why is our kids class stuctured this way

At our academy we try to do things a little differently. We could pack our mats with as many kids as possible but we never will - we care about the quality and safety of training more then the quantity of kids on the mat.

Kids come to our academy from all walks of life, with all sorts of different goals and needs - if we overcrowd the classes it becomes impossible to help each child reach their goals. Overcrowded classes also become a safety issue and it creates a strain on the coaches.

We try to fill classes in based on how many spaces are available, if there is an age range that is needing partners to help keep the training fair, and how fast the new people in class catching on. We do not want any child to feel like they are lost in class and get discouraged. Learning martial arts can help stop bullying, create confidence, help kids find friends and give them a positive outlet for their emotions - the last thing we want to do is have a class full of kids who feel like they are not getting the attention they need to progress in these sports.

Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling are difficult sports. They requires focus, discipline and commitment - all of these things will be learned in class and we intend to make sure the kids are able to learn and grow in the best enviroment possible.

Children must meet the minimum age requirement for classes. All of our classes are programed for certain age groups - Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling are very complex sports and we take them very seriously. To lower the possibility of injury and distraction, age requirements will be followed.

We thank you for your understanding as we continue to build the best kids program possible!

Class Age Requirements :

Mini rollers (Jiu Jitsu) : 5 - 7

Youth Jiu Jitsu : 8-14

Wrestling : 8-14

Some things to keep in mind

Not Seasonal

Jiu Jitsu is a year round sport. Please keep this in mind if your child plays other sports.

It can be very discouraging for kids to take extended time off of class, only to come back and feel like their peers have progressed past them. Consistency is key.

Age Groups

Due to the nature of the sports, we have specific age requirements for each program. It is very challenging for kids under the minimum age to keep up with the training schedule and demands of the class. Teens are able to start adult classes at 15.

Not related to Karate

It is awesome if your little one previously trained another form of martial arts such as Karate or Taekwondo, but Boxing, Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu are completely unrelated.

Full Contact

While we do take precautions and limit the number of students per class so the coaches are able to keep a better eye on everyone - these are full contact sports.

It is challenging

Jiu Jitsu especially, is very challenging. The kids learn most of the same techniques as the adults and are challenged daily in classes. We do our best to help them stay positive, motivated and excited about learning.

Competitions

We do not require the kids to compete but we do encourage it! Competitions are fun and a great way for the kids to get engaged and support each other.

Not familiar with Jiu Jitsu?

No, it is not karate (one of our most commonly asked questions). Jiu Jitsu is a full contact sport and is commonly known as "the gentle art". It is the best sport for self defense, for kids and adults alike.

Check out the video below for a glimpse of class from one of the best kids teams in the world!

Because of the complexity of the sport and nature of it being full contact, minimum age requirements must be followed.

Enrollment is live!

But spaces are limited...
